The Riedell R3 is a good starter skate for rookies just getting into derby. The standard wheels and bearings are fine to start with but you will probably want to upgrade once you are sure that derby is for you. Good comfortable boot and if you use toe guards it will last longer. Overall the best starter derby skate. R3's with pre-upgraded wheels and bearings are also available.
